Uplands at the heart of M&S transformation
Uplands at the heart of M&S transformation at Whiteladies Road, Bristol
This summer, Uplands completed its first project for Marks and Spencer, a refit for their new store on Whiteladies Road.
The project itself was 5 weeks onsite, however, it took a whole year to develop and manage, from its conception back in March 2018 through to delivery in May 2019. Completion was a major success, not least because of the huge acceptance from and excitement of the local residents, as reported in the Bristol Post and on YouTube, showing the massive queue at its launch on 16th May.

Back to Nature for New Wildlife Project
We’ve an exciting new project in progress for WWT (Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust) who’ve commissioned us to install a new bird-watching tower at their reserve in Slimbridge.
Slimbridge comprises some 800 hectares of pasture, reed bed, lagoon and salt marsh. Many water birds live there all year round, with others migrating on their way to and from their summer breeding grounds. Some birds over-winter, including large numbers of white-fronted geese and increasing numbers of Bewick’s swans.

Uplands' not so crazy golf
Uplands' not so crazy golf
Uplands’ second annual corporate Golf Day took place earlier this year (September) at The Manor House Golf Club in Castle Combe, Chippenham and proved a big hit with clients and consultants alike.
With eight teams teeing-off, Uplands’ MD Kevin Feldman commented: “Following a dodgy start which included the weather and the golf, things brightened up and a great day was had by all.
“This year we added a ‘Trackman’ and ‘Trick Shot’ challenge to the day’s usual team competition which made for some great story telling and banter during the post-event BBQ.
“Congratulations to all of the prize winners but particularly the team captained by Mike Barker who took the winners’ trophy although we’re looking forward to reviewing Mike’s handicap next year for accuracy!”
And then there were Seven
And then there were Seven
Uplands is delighted to have scooped another RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) Gold Medal taking its tally up to seven awards over consecutive years.
The 2018 award recognises the company’s outstanding and continued approach to health and safety across all areas of the business.
“This is another first-class achievement that we are particularly proud of as RoSPA awards are among the most prestigious in the world of occupational health and safety,” comments Kevin Feldman, Managing Director at Uplands.
“It is further affirmation that we are reaching consistently high levels of performance and delivery when it comes to safety, demonstrating the quality of our management systems and culture, outstanding control of risks and very low levels of error, harm and loss.”

All About the Image
All About the Image
In 2016 Uplands were awarded a Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) Bronze medal in recognition of the role it plays in improving the image of construction.
It’s the fifth CSS award in as many years to be awarded by the not-for-profit organisation which encourages companies to abide by the Code of Considerate Practice and embrace best practice that goes beyond statutory requirements.
“We believe wholeheartedly in the scheme which over the years has been fundamental in improving the image of construction,” says Kevin Feldman, Uplands Managing Director.
“Whether for a specific site project or the company as a whole, we are always delighted to accept these accolades which are testament to the hard work and commitment of the whole Uplands team.”
The Scheme covers any area of construction activity that may have a direct or indirect impact on the image of the industry as a whole with key focus given to the general public, the workforce and the environment.
